Olivier Piepsz

Ingénieur en aérodynamique de formation, sorti de l’Ecole Polytechnique de Bruxelles, Olivier est ensuite passé par l’Institut von Karman dépendant de l’OTAN puis a poursuivi ses études à Toulouse à Supaéro se spécialisant dans le domaine spatial.
Après deux et demi au MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) où il a mené des activités de recherche fondamentale sur le contrôle actif de la turbulence, il est rentré en Europe où il a pris chez Verhaert, la responsabilité technique du satellite de l’Agence Spatiale Européenne, PROBA, phase 0.
Repéré par un dirigeant de Dassault aviation, il rejoint le groupe et sa direction Défense en 1998. Il sera d’abord responsable de l’après-vente des vieux avions pour l’Amérique du Sud, participera ensuite à la campagne de vente des Mirage 2000 au Chili, prendra la responsabilité de la campagne Rafale Pays-Bas contre le JSF et rédigera l’offre Pologne. On lui confiera en 2002 la direction de la campagne Rafale Suisse qu’il dirigera pendant presque 10 ans. Olivier a également participé à l’élaboration du projet de drone de combat européen nEUROn et a négocié avec succès l’entrée de la Suisse dans le programme.
En 2011, à la demande de Safran, Olivier prend le poste de Sénior Vice- Président pour l’Amérique Latine puis l’Afrique est rattachée à sa zone. Après le Bourget 2017, on agrandit son périmètre de responsabilité en lui confiant en plus les Etats-Unis, le Canada et la zone pacifique (Japon, Australie et Nouvelle-Zélande).
Début 2020, Olivier se voit confié une zone regroupant les grands avionneurs mondiaux : les Amériques et l’Europe Continentale qui regroupe autour de la Russie, les pays européens non membres de l’Union. Au sein du GIFAS, comme président du groupe de travail pour les Amériques, Il a également animé des dynamiques en faveur des PME, des ETI et de leur accès à l’innovation et a participé à des réflexions sur la consolidation de la « supply chain » française à l’international.
Dans des domaines aussi variés que les satellites, les drones de surveillance, les solutions biométriques les plus avancées, en passant par le Rafale, les aéroports, les passeports, la coopération avec les universités et les start-ups, l’implantation et la négociation de nouveaux sites industriels, les projets de rupture tel l’aventure Solar Impulse de B. Piccard ou le petit lanceur Q@ts d’ArianeGroup , dans des approches bilatérales comme la mise en place du Conseil Stratégique Franco-mexicain, la co-organisation des séminaires France- Brésil pour L. Fabius, les « missions for growth » de l’ex Commissaire Européen A. Tajani, Olivier a montré sa capacité à appréhender les différents volets de problématiques complexes alliant politique et haute technologie avec une conviction forte toujours tournée vers l’Europe, garante de paix et de développement.
En Janvier 2020, il crée avec Giao Nguyen la société Prométhée dont il prend la présidence.
An aerodynamic engineer by training, graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique de Bruxelles, Olivier gone to the Von Karman Institute under NATO and then continued his studies in Toulouse at Supaéro, specializing in the space field.
After two and a half year at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) where he carried out basic research activities on active turbulence control, he returned to Europe where he took on at Verhaert, technical responsibility for the Agency's satellite. European Space, PROBA, phase 0.
Spotted by a Dassault Aviation executive, he joined the group and its Defense department in 1998. He started responsible for the after-sales service for planes in services in South America, then he tooks part in the Mirage2000 sales campaign in Chile, then he was responsible for the Rafale Netherlands campaign against the JSF and was in charge of the Poland offer finalization. In 2002, he was entrusted with the management of the Rafale Switzerland campaign, which he lead for almost 10 years. Olivier also participated in the development of the European combat drone project nEUROn and successfully negotiated the entry of Switzerland into the program.
In 2011, at the request of Safran, Olivier took the position of Senior Vice-President for Latin America, then Africa was attached to his zone. After the 2017 Paris Air Show, his scope of responsibility was expanded by entrusting it with the United States, Canada and the Pacific zone (Japan, Australia and New Zealand). At the start of 2020, Olivier was entrusted with an area bringing together the major world aircraft manufacturers: the Americas and Continental Europe, which groups together around Russia, European countries that are not members of the Union. Within GIFAS, as chairman of the working group for the Americas, he also led initiatives in favor of SMEs, mid-cap companies and their access to innovation and participated in discussions on the consolidation of the French supply chain internationally.
In fields as varied as satellites, surveillance drones, the most advanced biometric solutions, Rafale combat aircraft, airports, passports, cooperations with universities and start-ups, implementation and negotiation new industrial sites, breakthrough projects such as the Solar Impulse adventure by B. Piccard or the small Q @ ts launcher by ArianeGroup, in bilateral approaches such as the establishment of the Franco-Mexican Strategic Council, the co-organization France-Brazil seminars for L. Fabius, the "missions for growth" of the former European Commissioner A. Tajani, Olivier showed that he was able to understand the different aspects of complex issues combining politics and high technology with a strong conviction always turned towards Europe, guarantor of peace and development.
In January 2020, he creates with Giao Nguyen the company Prométhée of which he takes the presidency.
